SIAMS
SIAMS at Woodside C of E Primary School
“Together in God’s love we inspire and grow through living life in all its fullness.” – John 10:10
As a Church of England school, we are inspected by the National Society through the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) framework. SIAMS evaluates how effective we are as a church school—how our Christian vision shapes our life together, supports every member of our community to flourish, and how well our worship and religious education enable spiritual growth.
What SIAMS Looks For
A SIAMS inspection explores:
- How effective the school’s distinctive Christian vision is in enabling pupils and adults to flourish
- The impact of collective worship
- The effectiveness of Religious Education (RE) (for voluntary aided schools; for academies inspected as VC, RE may be checked through curriculum review)
These elements sit at the heart of Woodside’s identity as we strive to be a school of hope, belonging and transformation.
⭐ Our Latest SIAMS Outcome – April 2024
We were delighted to be inspected again on 16 April 2024, and the report confirms that Woodside is living up to its foundation as a Church of England school and thriving because of its deeply embedded Christian vision.
Key Strengths Highlighted in 2024 SIAMS Report
Inspectors identified a number of powerful strengths:
- Our Christian vision drives a caring, compassionate and inclusive culture, enabling all pupils—and adults—to “live life to the full,” regardless of their needs or backgrounds.
- Strong partnerships with our churches, the diocese, Birmingham Diocesan MAT and local community help every part of the school to flourish.
- Highly competent leaders, including governors, have transformed the school’s learning environment and culture through the vision.
- The vision shapes provision for vulnerable pupils and those with SEND, ensuring excellent support and inclusion. Parents speak passionately about how their children flourish here.
- Staff at all stages of their careers are nurtured, supported and developed, enabling them to grow confidently and “live life in all its fullness.”
- Our curriculum is inspiring, diverse and aspirational, enabling pupils to experience rich learning through trips, clubs, outdoor learning and memorable experiences.
- Our collective worship is spiritually uplifting, strengthened by partnerships with St Nicholas Church, the parish and the “Open the Book” team, enabling pupils to understand Bible stories and reflect spiritually.
- Woodside celebrates diversity and fosters a culture of belonging, justice and community action
Areas for Development Identified (2024)
We are committed to continuous improvement and the report identifies key next steps:
- Ensuring greater consistency in the RE curriculum as pupils progress
- Deepening the Christian focus in collective worship themes
- Embedding a common language of spirituality across school so children and adults can talk more confidently about spiritual growth
These are already shaping our ongoing development work.
Our Christian Vision in Action
Everything we do at Woodside is shaped by our vision:

This vision shapes:

✔ our pastoral care
✔ our collective worship

✔ our approach to spiritual development for all
Our vision is not simply words on a page—it is lived out daily in our values, our culture and the way we care for one another.
